I can't wait until then, because I need my new rig to run the DFM, so I'm going ahead with the build. The feeling is mutual! BTW, Broadwell has suffered production problems and has been delayed until Q4 2014. So it might not be possible to use ANY existing mobos for Broadwell procs - which is very disappointing and kinda a FU from Intel to all computer enthusiasts. If not, the 4770k could be the limit of the Z87 LGA1150 procs - unless Intel releases another batch of 4th gen Haswell procs alongside Broadwell.
STAR CITIZEN SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS UPDATE
The 14 nm Broadwell chips require lower voltage than Haswell, and it's unclear if a firmware or BIOS update could change the Z87 boards to make them compatible with Broadwell procs. Upon doing my research I discovered that there's no guarantee that the Z87 mobos will be compatible with the upcoming 5th generation Broadwell procs, because they use the upcoming 9-series Intel mobos. But the LGA2011 socket is done, so I couldn't upgrade the proc without upgrading the mobo.

I considered a X79 mobo, like the Asus Rampage IV series, with the older LGA2011 socket, because it could take the 4820K 3.7 GHz and 6 core procs. I chose the 4770K because it used the new LGA1150 socket. I've read it's possible to reach 4.8, but only about 25% of procs can do it with 100% stability. I plan on overclocking the 4770K to at least 4.5 GHz.
